In my practice I focus on helping you become a more integrated individual. We have all had experiences that change how we see the world and change what we believe about ourself. Through incorporating these five modalities, I have helped individuals access healing and hope. I do this through: Brainspotting, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, and Self-Compassion.

Brainspotting:
“Where you look affects how you feel.” Brainspotting is a mindfulness focused approach that access the brain and body. We stimulate your senses of sound and sight to access your “deep” brain. During a session, you will listen to bi-lateral music which helps to integrate your right and left brain. We will then choose a topic that feels right to work on for the session. Lastly, we will pick a brainspot, which is an actual spot in your field of vision that affects how you feel. Many clients will feel a faster heart rate, a twitch in their eye or some other sensation increase in discomfort. When this occurs, we know we have accessed a window into the brain. I will be present and we will let your brain naturally resolve itself. We have all had difficult experiences that change what we believe about ourselves and the world around us. Through Brainspotting, we can help give you relief from old memories, beliefs and emotions and start to change how you feel and respond today.
This modality can be used to treat an array of issues including but not limited too:

EMDR:
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR, just like Brainspotting, is considered a bottom up approach, and will work to stimulate the senses to bring forward emotions or thoughts. I will help walk you through the eight phase process and incorporate alternating eye movements. This stimulus of alternating eye movements helps to reprocess old traumatic memories. This modality can also be used to treat many of the same issues as Brainspotting.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
ACT is an “act”ion oriented therapy. It combines mindfulness and acceptance strategies with commitment and behavior strategies to help guide you into greater psychological flexibility. We will work on skills to detangle language, which is believed to cause psychological suffering, and move towards turning down the noise in your head with unhooking skills. By learning how to unhook to certain thoughts it can give you the opportunity to move towards the person and behaviors you want. We will also work on a value mindset versus a goal driven mindset and how to integrate that into daily living. ACT can assist in helping individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is based on community with oneself. It is a relational practice. We all have the ability to be fully present and grounded in our body and experiences. However, for many of us, we have forgotten how to stay present and often times become overwhelmed, reactive or down regulate. We will work on skills that can help you self-regulate and be more mindful. Moving to a more integrated state allows you to notice and identify physical and emotional states and begin to respond appropriately.

Self-Compassion
Self-compassion can be such an integral part in the healing process. By accessing a felt sense in our bodies, being kind and gentle to those senses, thoughts and emotions, we continue the process of healing from the bottom up. At the core of self compassion is an acceptance of being human and acknowledgment of self-regulation, awareness, and connection. Learning how to treat yourself with kindness and compassion can be such a gift and can help change perception, attachments and connection to oneself.
